Normalisation
Normalisation is a technique used to achieve uniformity in grain size and composition of a material. It is usually done for iron alloys that are austenitised and cooled in the open air. The normalisation process is done by raising the critical temperature of the steel by about 50 degrees above the critical temperature of the steel, keeping it at that temperature for a certain period of time and then cooling it in atmospheric environment.
